On a more general note, often times a repaint is requested even if only minor repairs are needed. The paint used on your stucco must be of high quality so that it resists fading and will last you for many years. We recommend repainting your home every 5-10 years to ensure that a watertight barrier is kept intact. Once a stucco house is painted it is very important for the stucco to be painted regularly as part of a maintenance schedule. Most stucco houses in Houston, TX are painted. |
Painting ConsiderationsWhen painting stucco we will make sure to use the proper tools and also to cover all necessary floors, plants and other landscape elements to ensure paint doesn’t fall or overspray onto these surfaces. We also have the ladders and scaffolding equipment to reach up to four story homes and regularly tackle these difficult projects. Check out our paint guide for more info. |
Stucco paint & waterproofing
We have always strived to provide our clientele with a stucco paint finish that performs and looks great. Part of our method for making sure your finish looks great is to do great work of cutting in the paint at the corners to achieve a straight line. Also, we backroll paint to achieve a thick mil thickness of paint. Mil thickness is important when waterproofing your house with paint. Because the breathability of the stucco is given up in order to waterproof the house, at this point the focus becomes the installation of a thick paint coating that will keep water out, seal any cracks, and resist fading and weathering.
How do you match a color on a stucco repair?
We repaint stucco after making repairs and make sure to match the color properly. Even with a perfectly matched color, it is very likely that the color won’t always match after painting the repairs due to differences in paint absorption, light angles and other considerations. For this reason our standard operating procedure is to either do the repairs in complete sections or to do the final coat of paint in complete sections, covering corner to corner or corner to joint. This ensures we paint a large enough area and any differences in color are lost to the eye. Because this saves time lost in trying to make a color match work, it’s not necessarily always a more expensive route.
